Mentorship

RGD's Program

The mentorship program allowed 3 designers to work on this project alongside our mentor, Michael Barker. My role was to be the art director, leading a team of 2 designers: Evan Li and Alex Nguyen. The project presented us with real-life project challenges that we overcame & learned from.

This project challenges the stereotype that Gen Z graphic designers’ emphasis on work-life balance signifies a lack of work ethic, inviting hiring managers to consider the value of professional boundaries and recognize Gen Z’s dedication to their work and well-being.

The Campaign

The project questions the traditional notion that overwork and unpaid overtime are necessary for producing high-quality design work and that Gen Z junior designers must endure these conditions to succeed.

By asking, "Why is Gen Z committed to work-life balance?" we aim to highlight the benefits of a healthy work-life balance for fostering creativity and reducing burnout. It seeks to start a conversation with hiring managers in the design industry about the value of professional boundaries and the importance of recognizing Gen Z's commitment to their work and well-being.
